The Over 50s Courses are tailored to teach day to day language needs. These Spanish language programmes are ideal if you plan to live part of the year in Spain or have a favourite holiday destination, or visit friends or family abroad.
MALAGA
College Description

Timetable: Morning lessons plus a social programme
Accommodation: With local Spanish hosts or in the college residence (various room sizes are offered,
CESA has quoted a small single en suite room, higher standard options are available).
Aimed at those older students who wish to study with their peers whilst concentrating on developing
their communication skills and enjoying a varied social activity programme. Courses are aimed at three abilities; beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Beginners concentrate on highly practical
situations whilst more advanced students will discuss aspects of Spanish life, society, culture and
politics.
Activities may include shopping in the central market, a cookery or Sevillanas dance class,
lunch with a teacher, a visit to the Alcazaba (castle) and the Cathedral or a trip to the botanical
gardens. There will also be a full day Saturday excursion i.e. to Granada.
The college is located up a steep hill and there are number of steps from the pavement to climb. If you have any
difficulties with walking, please discuss this with CESA before booking.

BARCELONA

Levels: Open to all ability levels
A short course aimed at older students who wish to study, in a more relaxed environment, with their peer group.
Structured Spanish lessons are complimented by an activity programme including an evening flamenco show, a full day excursion to the Costa Brava, Figueras & the Dali Museum and a meal out in a typical Spanish restaurant.
Activities can include: welcome drink and city tour, guided tour of the Gothic Quarter, visit to the Barcelona Museum or Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, evening flamenco show, full day excursion to the Costa Brava & Dali museum, guided tour of Montjuïc and the Miró Foundation, visit to Gaudí's Park Güell, visit to the Picasso Museum and a lunch at a local restaurant.

4 workshops are scheduled to take place over the two weeks of your course, with two workshops per week, each lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours. All materials are provided and you are welcome to take home any work you produce.
Painting Ceramics workshop ~ This workshop consists of decorating a porcelain dragon figure (designed by Gaudi) which has previously been fired at 1200º C. The decorative mosaic technique often used by Gaudi is also explained in detail.
Glass‐fusing workshop ~ Students will study the many marvellous possibilities of working with molten glass. Each participant will produce a plate or bowl and decorate it according to their own preferences.
Pottery workshop ~ Following a demonstration of the art of 'throwing' a pot on a wheel, each participant will be given the opportunity to produce a bowl, plate or jug of their own.
Sculpture workshop ~ This workshop focuses on how to make sculptures appear well balanced and less static than is often the case. Each participant will be then be given the opportunity to make a Picasso‐style Spanish bull.

Accommodation: With local Spanish hosts, in College residence accommodation or can be
arranged in local Hotels on request
Aimed at those older students who wish to study with their peers whilst concentrating on
developing their communication skills. The course focuses on the social and cultural aspects of the
Spanish language rather than grammar analysis and written skills. It also includes four cultural
activities per week; visits to museums and monuments, a show, an evening meal with a teacher
and a Saturday excursion.
Classes are in small groups with the emphasis on oral expression, as well as social and cultural
aspects rather than grammar analysis and written skills. The teachers who impart this course are
conscious of the specific needs of the students as well as their different rhythm of learning and
the importance of special emphasis on culture (festivals and traditions, history and literature and
the Spanish life style).
The programme includes Seville airport or train station transfer upon arrival, 20 Spanish classes
per week, welcome drink and cultural activities, four days a week. Entrance tickets to the
museums and monuments are included as well as a concert or theatre evening, a meal with the
teacher and a Saturday full day excursion.
